2008-09 Program Overview:
You, the parents, are your child’s primary teacher in your Catholic Faith. The St. Jude Religious Education Program builds on the foundation you have started with your child. We incorporate prayer, scripture, liturgy, service, community and the Church’s teachings into our 27-week program.
We offer opportunities for the children to be part of our liturgy through the monthly youth Masses in which the ministries (greeters, lectors, gift bearers, altar servers, collectors and singers) are done by a different grade each moth. There are also opportunities to be part of their parish and local communities in preparing and serving meals at the Salvation Army, serving at the Parish Senior Meal program, contributing non-perishable food items to the local food shelf each week, serving at the monthly pancake breakfast and sending greetings to our parish shut-ins and our military during the holidays.
The Sacramental Programs for First Communion and Confirmation are both a two-year program. For First Communion this means attending religious education classes in 1st and 2nd grades. For Confirmation this is in 9th and 10th grades.
